MY PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE I trained as an ADI (Driving Instructor) in 2018 and qualified with a Grade A. I have held my C+E (Class 1 HGV licence) since 2006 and have always had a passion for driving and helping others to gain confidence. When I started the business in 2018 I concentrated on helping people pass their B+E (car and trailer ) tests, after the need for a test was abolished I have been concentrating on helping people pass their C1 (7.5 tonnes) test. I also still help lots of people who have never towed before or just want to brush up their skills with towing courses. I have also recently started offering Confidence Building Courses, when I was contacted by someone who needed some confidence when driving her Motorhome. I really enjoy seeing these people growing in confidence whilst driving their own vehicles as the course progresses.

C1, Towing and Confidence Building Courses Helping drivers succeed and grow in confidence C1 (7.5 Tonnes) Training and Test C1 (7.5 tonne) Training and Test. For those who need the C1 category adding to their licence to drive vehicles between 3.5 and 7.5 tonnes, such as Ambulances (Paramedics), Horseboxes, Motorhomes and Large Vans. Training and test is usually completed over 2 consecutive days and includes both tests (3a, reverse and 3b on road drive) Based in Chesterfield and covering Sheffield Test Centre. C1 Test and Training (including test fees) £795 Towing Courses Although it is not a legal requirement to have training before you tow it is highly recommended, especially if you have never towed before or if it has been a while and you need to brush up your skills. Driver Training offers a half day course (3 hours) and a full day course (5 hours), both courses cover safe hitching and unhitching, loading, driving on a variety of roads and reversing in different situations. For those who have never towed before we would recommend the full day course as this goes into more depth in all areas. Undertaken in your own vehicle and tailored to your own specific requirements this course focuses on the areas that you feel you need the most help with to allow you to gain confidence and enjoy your vehicle! FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Important Information What vehicles do I need a C1 licence to drive? Vehicles that require a C1 licence are rigid vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes MAM (Maximum Authorised Mass). Typically these include; Ambulances, Horseboxes, Motorhomes and Large Vans. Many 3.5 tonne vehicles do not have enough payload to carry the weight needed, acquiring your C1 licence will allow you to drive a larger vehicle with a greater payload. Do I need to take a test to tow a trailer ? Since December 2021 you do not need an additional test to tow a 3.5 tonne trailer (or 7 tonne combined weight), this weight limit is relevant to when you passed your category B (car) test (check the gov.uk website for more details). Once you have obtained your category B (car) test you now automatically receive the B+E entitlement on your licence (or it will be added when you next interact with DVLA). However it is advised that you complete a towing course before you head out on the road to be shown safe hitching and unhitching procedures, driving on a variety of roads and reversing in different scenarios. Can I do a Confidence Building Course in my own vehicle? Yes! This is exactly what these courses are designed for.
